Abe Pacana – Panoramic Photographer

I am a photographer based in Philadelphia specializing in stitch panorama of nature, landscapes and cityscapes. I am an Engineer by profession working in wireless telecommunications. I hail from the Philippines and have been in the US for more than 10 years. I was in awe with the US landscape that’s why I taught myself landscape photography. I was not satisfied with one shot one frame images so I studied how to stitch panorama. I have been stitching for 4 years now.

Digital panoramic photography, also known as wide format photography, is a special technique that stitches multiple images from the same camera together to form a single, wide photograph. Using a proper photography technique and panoramic equipment, it is now possible to create near-perfect panoramas at extremely high resolutions.

I use a panoramic tripod head and special stitching software for my images to produce high resolution panoramas. Resolutions are ranging from 30 to 100+ mega pixels depending on how many rows and columns of vertical photos the scene needs. I then cropped the photos to either 6X18, 6X12 or 4X5 format.

I employ a lot of long exposures in my stitch images with the aid of ND filters. I exclusively use Nikon DSLR, Rokinon & Nikon lenses and Nodal Ninja panoramic tripod head.

  14. First congrats on having a featured blog on freshly pressed! I am tickled they featured you because I found a new idol to be inspired by. I have a love and passion for nature and landscape photography, and I hope one day to be as good as you. I recently have started taking it more seriously, doing a photo-a-day for a year. I have often compared myself to other photographers selling myself short by telling myself I don’t have the gear nor time. Thanks for your enlightenment, stating photography is not all about the gear. I look forward to more of your post.
